Monks of the Central Khurul Took Part in the Opening Ceremony of the Days of Indian Culture

Monks of the Central Khurul, led by Shajin Lama of Kalmykia Geshe Tenzin Choydak, took part in the ceremonial opening of the Days of Indian Culture.

The event took place on Victory Square, in the “Druzhba” (Friendship) park. A cozy Indian cultural corner was set up here: vivid decorations in traditional motifs, an exhibition of art objects and crafts, as well as displays telling about the spiritual traditions of India.

In his welcoming speech, the Shajin Lama emphasized how important such events are for strengthening the centuries-old spiritual and cultural ties between the peoples of Kalmykia and India. He thanked the Indian side for their fruitful cooperation and support, including the opportunity to venerate the sacred relics brought last year… This became a truly memorable occasion that left a deep imprint in the hearts of the faithful. Geshe Tenzin Choydak paid special attention to the significance of cultural dialogue: he noted that such gatherings help to preserve traditions, pass on the wisdom of generations, and strengthen mutual understanding between different peoples.

A striking moment of the celebration was the ceremony of jointly lighting the ritual fire — the sacred Indian lamp. This is not merely a tradition, but a sign of friendship, spiritual unity, and mutual respect.
