Daily Morning and Evening Prayer Services Are Held at the Arshan Khurul

Grace-filled silence and tranquility… this is how the atmosphere at the Arshan Khurul can be described. The other day, we witnessed an evening prayer service — and for a moment, it seemed as though time itself stood still. Everything here breathes a sense of calm: the focused faces of the monks, the faithful bowed in silent prayer, the barely perceptible flicker of the butter-lamp flames… The steady sound of prayers seems to dissolve the bustle of the day, carrying away anxiety and haste and filling the heart with deep peace.

This is a special period at the khurul — the monks are continuing their summer retreat, “Yarne.” It is now the third week that members of Kalmykia’s monastic community have been immersed in profound spiritual practice. This is a time of strict concentration, study of sacred texts, and meditation — a time when they devote themselves wholeheartedly to the benefit of all living beings.

For laypeople, this period is a special opportunity to connect with the great tradition through their presence, sincere prayer, good deeds, and inner aspiration toward the light. It is as though we become part of a great shared endeavor in which everyone makes a quiet yet important contribution.

As a reminder, prayers are recited within these walls every day. The morning prayer service begins at 9:00, and the evening prayer service — at 18:00. The doors of the khurul are open to everyone seeking peace, support, and inspiration. You do not need to know all the words — it is enough simply to come, stand in silence, listen, experience the atmosphere, and carry a little of its light with you.
