The Monks’ Summer Retreat Continues

Every morning, the Kangyur — the canon of the Buddha’s teachings — is recited at Säküsn Süm. These lines contain the foundation of the Dharma, the wisdom that leads to peace and compassion.

The monks, led by the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia, Geshe Tenzin Choidak, remain in a state of profound concentration — they have withdrawn from the bustle of everyday life and immersed themselves in practice as their summer retreat (“Yarne”) continues. As part of the retreat, two major prayer services are held daily at the Arshan Khurul (the morning service at 9.00 and the evening service at 18.00), and laypeople may also take part.

Attending such a prayer service — is not merely listening to sacred texts, but directly joining the tradition of reciting the Word of the Enlightened One: an opportunity to slow down, collect one’s thoughts, and direct one’s intention toward the benefit of all sentient beings.
