The Central Khurul switches to winter opening hours
The Central Khurul is switching to winter opening hours — it will now be open from 7:00 to 17.
Dear worshippers, guests and tourists!
We have spoken about the rules for visiting the Central Khurul of Kalmykia on several occasions, and today we would like to remind you of them once again. These traditions help preserve the special atmosphere of our sacred place — let us cherish it together.
Here are the main rules to keep in mind when visiting:
🕉️ Walk around sacred objects and turn the “prayer wheels” clockwise — this is what our ancestors did, and the tradition continues to this day.
🕉️ The altar area is reserved for worshippers: this helps preserve the sanctity of the space.
🕉️ Treat the monks with respect: heed their advice and do not occupy the seats reserved for them.
🕉️ Conduct yourself with restraint: avoid noise, running, loud conversations and inappropriate discussions.
🕉️ Pay attention to your clothing: it should cover your shoulders and knees. Trousers or shorts extending below the knees are suitable for men, and dresses or skirts extending below the knees — for women. It is advisable to tie your hair back neatly. Where possible, refrain from wearing bright makeup, perfume or conspicuous jewellery.
🕉️ Before entering the temple, remove your shoes and headwear, and put your mobile phone on silent or switch it off.
🕉️ Photography and video recording are prohibited inside the temple.
🕉️ When leaving the hall, do not turn your back on the Buddha — doing so is a sign of deep respect.
🕉️ Please do not visit while intoxicated, consume alcohol or drugs, smoke on the grounds, litter, bring in weapons or dangerous objects, walk on the lawns, or hold picnics or photo shoots.
Thank you for respecting the spiritual values of the Buddhist temple. May your time here be filled with peace and harmony!
