The Buddhist School Continues Its Work in Kalmykia
Another class took place at the Buddhist school— and it was a truly lively, profound conversation!
It was led by the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia, Geshe Tenzin Choidak. More than 30 people gathered for the session — both children and adults: together, they explored profound truths and learned to look within themselves.
The topic of this session — 10 non-virtuous actions. Geshe Tenzin Choidak explained them simply and clearly, offering vivid examples from everyday life. He recalled the Buddha’s words: it is important for lay practitioners to refrain from the 10 non-virtuous actions — this is a path that helps them avoid suffering.
The idea that all negativity inevitably brings suffering gave the conversation particular depth. The Shajin Lama encouraged everyone to be mindful: “We need to reflect and analyze — where do my negative emotions come from? What caused them? Can I control this process?”
It was interesting to observe the dialogue with the children — they actively joined the conversation and openly shared their thoughts. One of the most important questions the Shajin Lama asked them was: “What is happiness?” Their answers spoke of simple, real things — and this made the session especially valuable.
Sessions like these — are more than just lessons; they provide a space where people learn to understand themselves, treat their thoughts with care, and see how their inner states affect their lives.
