Shajin Lama of Kalmykia Welcomes a Delegation of Monks from Drepung Gomang
Early this morning, the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia, Geshe Tenzin Choidak, received a delegation of Indian monks led by Geshe Lharampa Lobsang Shakya.
The traditional exchange of greetings was more than a mere formality — it conveyed sincere respect and continuity within the Buddhist lineage.
During their conversation, the two sides discussed the details of upcoming events: it is precisely these “practical” matters that determine how profound and beneficial an event will be for devotees.
Geshe Tenzin Choidak expressed his special gratitude to Drepung Gomang Monastery — for its support and for making it possible to create sand mandalas in Kalmykia every year. He said that this tradition has become an important part of the republic’s spiritual life: it not only preserves ancient rituals but also introduces them to new generations.
