Kalmykia’s Shajin Lama meets a visiting delegation from Tuva today

Today, the Central Khurul hosted an official meeting between the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia, Geshe Tenzin Choidak, and the Venerable Kamby Lama of the Republic of Tuva, Loden Sherab.

The conversation was truly warm: they discussed not only practical matters, but also the importance of preserving Buddhist teachings and passing them on to new generations.

Their shared spiritual education lends particular significance to this meeting, as both supreme Lamas’ paths to becoming spiritual teachers led through Drepung Gomang — one of the renowned centres of Buddhist education. Studying at the same monastic university became an important shared chapter in their life journeys.

During the meeting, they discussed several important areas of cooperation, including educational projects for young people. Such initiatives help make Buddhist traditions more accessible and understandable, especially for children and teenagers — thereby strengthening continuity between generations.

This visit  — is more than a matter of formal protocol; it is a living expression of unity among the country’s Buddhist republics. May the benevolent plans discussed today come to fruition for the benefit of all sentient beings!
