Congratulations from the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia Telo Tulku Rinpoche on the City Day of Elista

Dear residents of Elista, on behalf of the monastic community of the Central Khurul of Kalmykia I congratulate you on the birthday of our beloved city! This year our steppe pearl turns 155. Elista is one of the most beautiful cities in the south of Russia, possessing a rich historical heritage. But the main treasure of our city is its residents. The residents of the capital of the steppe land are known for their hospitality, industriousness, and determination. Everything we are rightly proud of today is the result of joint efforts and the daily hard work of each of you: work collectives, the public, the residents of Elista, all the caring people who dream of seeing Elista well-appointed and put every effort into it. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted the usual rhythm of life. As in other cities of the world, we worry about the life and health of our loved ones, and face such new phenomena as self-isolation, social distancing, and the mask regime. Taking this opportunity, I would like once again to express words of gratitude to the medical workers and all those who put every effort into saving thousands of lives. I think we need to keep our optimism and faith in tomorrow. I am confident our city will develop and prosper.
