Preparations for the Annual Rituals Have Been Completed at the Central Khurul of Kalmykia
Extensive preparatory work was carried out over several days. The monks and novices of the khurul, together with volunteers, carried out a thorough cleaning of the Dugan — the large prayer hall; the monks made special offerings — “torma,” prepared the sites for the fire puja, and did other preparatory work.
The annual tantric rituals will be held from October 3 to 6 inclusive. On October 3 the Yangdrub ritual will take place, on October 4 the “Jinseg” ritual, on October 5 the “Torgyak” ritual, and on October 6 the “Tangrak Kangso” ritual.
The rituals will be led by the head of the Buddhists of Kalmykia Telo Tulku Rinpoche. Under the guidance of the Shajin Lama, all the monks of the Central Khurul will take part in the rituals, above all the Geshes and senior Gelongs, who are strong practitioners and have great spiritual experience in conducting such rituals. Tomorrow the “Yangdrub” ritual will begin. This is a ritual of invoking wealth and good fortune. The ritual is performed by means of White Mahakala. The monks will offer a prayer to Gonkar (White Mahakala) for the prosperity and well-being of Kalmykia and its residents.
According to the senior administrator of the Central Khurul Yonten Gelong, despite the fact that the rituals will, due to the pandemic, be held remotely, for those people who sincerely join in with prayers this will not be an obstacle, since for prayer with pure motivation there are no borders. “And wherever on the globe you may be, if during these days you, together with the monks, having generated within yourself a good motivation for the benefit of all living beings, for the benefit of our republic, pray, the effect of that prayer will be the same as if you were praying while in the khurul. We recommend that during these rituals everyone at home light a lamp, make an offering to the burkhans, and pray together with the monks,” Yonten Gelong advised.
We remind you that during the rituals “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni” will be closed to visitors. All the rituals will be broadcast on the official channel of the Central Khurul on YouTube and Instagram. For convenience, boxes for names and offerings will be set up by the southern gates of the Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni; also, everyone can send names to the email address moleben.hurul@mail.ru, and transfer offerings to the bank card — 4276 6000 1227 9861.
