The “Neden Chakchod” Ritual

Tomorrow, September 9, at the Central Khurul of the Republic of Kalmykia “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni,” an extended ritual “Neden Chakchod — Offering to Buddha Shakyamuni and the 16 Arhats” will be held. This ritual “Neden Chakchod — Offering to Buddha Shakyamuni and the 16 Arhats” is held on the first Wednesday of every month and will continue up until July 6, 2021. During the ritual the monks address Buddha Shakyamuni and the 16 Arhats, relying on the qualities and virtues of the long life of the holy beings, with a request for the pacification of illnesses, the removal of harm inflicted by spirits and other obstructing forces, with a request for the prolongation of the lifespan, the increase of virtuous merits and qualities. The ritual is dedicated to the health, long life, and well-being of the spiritual leader of the Buddhists of the world — His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso.
