July 24 — Day of the First Turning of the Wheel of the Teaching

Today Buddhists of the world celebrate one of the main Buddhist holidays, the Day of the First Turning of the Wheel of the Teaching.

At the Central Khurul “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni” the festive events began in the very early morning. At 04:30 all who wished could take the eight one-day vows. At seven in the morning the monks, together with volunteers, made a circumambulation around the khurul with the statue of Buddha Maitreya and the sacred texts of the Kangyur. The event continued with a festive prayer service. And at 14:00 and 16:00 the official YouTube channel of the khurul will broadcast the children’s play “The Bird — Bodhisattva” and the play “I Am Buddha.”
