The Head of the Buddhists of Kalmykia Makes a Working Visit to the Lagan District

Shajin Lama Telo Tulku Rinpoche took part in the unveiling of a memorial plaque in honor of the 120th anniversary of the birth of Tsagan Athaev, at the Ulan-Khol khurul.

Telo Tulku Rinpoche congratulated all those present on this event: “I want to congratulate everyone on this day. The last time I was here was 5 years ago, when we consecrated the stupa. I am glad that we were able to gather despite the difficult time connected with the pandemic, and I am very glad to see all of you.”

Monks of the Central Khurul “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni” and of the Lagan khurul “Lagan Dargyeling,” headed by the Shajin Lama, performed the “Chusol” and “Rabne” rituals, during which they invoked the Buddhas, bodhisattvas, dakinis, and dakas to purify the locality and all those gathered.

Upon the conclusion of the prayer service, Telo Tulku Rinpoche set off for the town of Lagan, where he met  with the administrator of the “Lagan Dargyeling” khurul Otkhon Gelong and the chairman of the Buddhist community of the Lagan district Mergen Naktanov. They informed the Head of the Buddhists of Kalmykia about the measures taken at the khurul to prevent the spread of the coronavirus infection, the holding of prayer services and rituals under the prevailing conditions, the work done, and the plans for the near future.

Also on this day the Shajin Lama met and spoke with pilgrims traveling to holy places.
