Four-Day Rituals Have Concluded in Kalmykia
The monastic community of Kalmykia held the concluding four-day ritual aimed at eliminating drought and other natural cataclysms.
Over the course of four days, the rituals were held on the grounds of the monastery “Geden Sheddub Choi Korling,” the Central Khurul “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni,” and at the Lonely Poplar in the Tselinny district of the republic.
Today the monks of the Central Khurul “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni” performed the “Tentu Yultu” ritual. This ritual is performed relying on the deity Vajravidarana (Dorje Namjom). As his mantra says, “strength and power are gathered in a single manifest body of vajra wrath.” It [the strength] destroys evil spirits, saves, accomplishes all “that is not accomplished, not letting all attainments be squandered, fully granting all that is desired,” and protects all living beings.
These rituals are performed not only to overcome drought but also to purify the locality. The Vajravidarana ritual removes the consequences of the negative karma accumulated in this territory, pacifies and cleanses everything around. This ritual also removes all sorts of negative influences. As a result of performing the ritual, illnesses are healed, the influences of evil spirits and the sufferings of living beings are eliminated, and lifespan is extended.
